Außerdem wird auf die Phase der Politisierung eingegangen. Das Fazit bildet eine persönliche Stellungnahme. Der Mensch ist ein soziales Wesen, das Kommunikation, Information und Meinungsaustausch braucht. Schon 1000 Jahre vor Christus wurden Informationen, z. B. Höhlenmalerei oder Papyrusschriften, gesammelt und weitergegeben. Bekannt ist auch, dass es im Römischen Reich (27 v. Chr.) Informationsblätter gegeben hat, die jeden Tag veröffentlicht wurden. Im Laufe der Geschichte nahm der Informationsaustausch zunehmend Platz im Leben der Menschen ein. Im Mittelalter wurden Flugblätter auf öffentlichen Plätzen verteilt. In Italien hießen diese Blätter "avvisi", im deutschsprachigen Raum nannte man sie "Zeitungen". Mit der Erfindung des Buchdruckes vereinfachte sich die Darstellung der Zeitungen erheblich. Im Herbst 1605 erwarb der Verleger Johann Carolus, der über ein Informationsnetz in ganz Europa verfügte, ein Patent im Straßburger Rathaus. Bei dem Patent handelte es sich um ein örtliches Herstellungsmonopol auf ein Zeitungsabonnement, die neue Art der Informationsverbreitung. Dieses Ereignis war die Geburtsstunde der modernen Zeitungen und von diesem Moment an fanden die Zeitungen mehr und mehr Zugang in das Leben der Gesellschaft. Es mussten allerdings noch 300 Jahre vergehen, damit die Zeitung so wurde, wie wir sie heute kennen.
