La historia de la Biblia en español que muestra los 8 grandes traducciones al español en formato paralelo. Traducciones de la Enzinas 1543, Pineda 1556, Reina 1569, Valera 1602, Scio 1793, Mora y Pratt 1865, BFBS 1909, y el ABS de 1960.


Francisco de Enzinas (1518-1552)

Fue el primer traductor del nuevo testamento al castellano. La Inquisición católica lo encarceló por traducir y publicar las Escrituras Griegas Cristianas. Este, hijo de un rico terrateniente español, empezó a traducir las Escrituras Griegas Cristianas al castellano mientras todavía era un joven estudiante.


Juan Pérez de Pineda (1500-1567)

Imprimió su traducción del las Escrituras Griegas Cristianas, con la ayudó de las traducciones que hicieran Francisco de Enzinas y Juan de Valdés. Antes de morir, Pérez de Pineda dejó todos sus bienes para sufragar los gastos de la impresión de la Biblia en castellano.


Casiodoro de Reina (1520-1594)

En 1569 se editó su versión de la Biblia entera. Esta destacadísima obra era la primera traducción al español de toda la Biblia. Por siglos se había contado con Biblias en latín, pero este era el idioma de los privilegiados. Reina creía que todo el mundo debía comprender las Escrituras, de modo que arriesgó la vida para conseguir su meta.


Cipriano de Valera (1531-1602)

La versión de Reina fue revisada por Cipriano de Valera en 1602. Este fue otro ex monje que escapó de la ira de la Inquisición en Sevilla. La traducción Reina-Valera de la Biblia, en su versión original y sus versiones revisadas, todavía es la que se usa más extensamente entre los hispanohablantes.


Felipe Scío de San Miguel (1738-17960

En 1592 se editó una nueva versión bíblica, conocida como Sixto-Clementina, bajo la supervisión del papa Clemente VIII. Esta edición, fue utilizada como base para realizar traducciones católicas a diversos idiomas, como las versiones españolas de Felipe Scío de San Miguel (1793) y Félix Torres Amat (1825).


Dr. Ángel Herreros de Mora (1815-1876) & Dr. Henry Barrington Pratt (1832-1912)

Lo que motivo esta revisión fue para actualizar la ortografía y "supuestamente" traer al mundo hispano el texto confiable de la biblia Reina-Valera en ortografía moderna.


Sociedad Bíblica Británica (1909)

En 1804 se fundó la Sociedad Bíblica Británica y Extranjera, con un sencillo objetivo fundamental, proporcionar a la gente Biblias económicas en su idioma nativo y "sin notas ni comentarios". Las versiones patrocinadas por la Sociedad Bíblica Británica y Extranjera se basaron con frecuencia en la Versión King James en inglés.


Sociedad Bíblica Americana (1960)

Entre las muchas sociedades bíblicas que se formaron desde 1804 están la Sociedad Bíblica Americana (1816), formada de sociedades locales que ya existían. La Sociedad Bíblica Americana informa que ahora el 98% de la población de la Tierra tiene acceso a ella.
