About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Jose Reveles develops an interesting investigation that links the route of heroin trafficking with the disappearance of the 43 students in Ayotzinapa in 2014. Blame Heroin documents how this illicit drug has become the most important and dangerous drug in Mexico.

Jose Reveles is a journalist who specializes in cases of abuse of power and author of the bestseller El Chapo: entrega y traición / El Chapo: The Betrayal.

Paste, white powder, the big H, the white lady, the queen, are some of the names, among many others that are given to heroin. In this work, Jose Reveles offers clear evidence that for the past 10 years, Mexican drug traffickers have replaced Colombians as the top drug lords. Mexicans improved their methods and boast about having tamed an opium poppy brought from Afghanistan and from the Golden Triangle in Southeast Asia. With a great business sense, they noticed a change in consumption trends and migrated skillfully from the cocaine business to a most profitable one with heroin, easily obtained in Mexico.

Reveles reveals that the state of Guerrero is a Jurassic park for the worst criminal practices, and Iguala is the main point of concentration of heroin in the region. With these considerations in mind, Reveles assures that the 43 missing students of Ayotzinapa most likely entered Iguala that night without meaning to, and directly into a forbidden zone of the rotten poppy and opium kingdom; a geographical part of the country that does not welcome strange presences or foreign intrusions and where more than half of the opium consumed by American addicts is produced.
