Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Russistik / Slavistik, Note: 1,0, Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, Veranstaltung: Slavische Kultur- und Literaturwissenschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Vertiefung in das Wesen eines Dichters bzw. die Erforschung des künstlerischen Schaffensprozesses zählen laut vielen Literaturforschern zu den Hauptthemen nicht nur in den russischsprachigen Frühromanen Vladimir Nabokovs, sondern in seinem gesamten OEuvre. Fast alle Werke des Autors stellen Künstler als Erzähler oder Protagonisten vor und thematisieren den Kontrast zwischen Banalität, Inspiration und ästhetischem Empfinden sowie das Nebeneinander zweier Welten. All diese Aspekte finden in den Forschungsarbeiten von Brian Boyd, Renate Lachmann, Aleksandr Dolinin, Sergej Davydov u.a. große Beachtung. Die vorliegende Masterarbeit greift deshalb im Wesentlichen auf diese Forschungsansätze zurück. Als unverzichtbar für die bestehende Romananalyse erwiesen sich zudem Vladimir Nabokovs poetologischer Essay The Art of Literature and Commonsense, entstanden im Rahmen einer Vorlesungsreihe zur Geschichte der Weltliteratur sowie seine Autobiografie Speak, Memory. Herangezogen für die Analyse werden außerdem zahlreiche Kritiken und Forschungsarbeiten der zeit-genössischen Exilautoren wie Gleb Struve, Vladislav Chodasevič und Georgij Adamovič. Weil die Entstehung der Frühromane Vladimir Nabokovs auf seine entbehrungsreiche Zeit im Berliner Exil zurückzuführen ist, kann ihre Analyse nicht ohne eine ausführliche Betrachtung jener kulturellhistorischen Hintergründe erfolgen, die für die Entwicklung der schriftstellerischen Karriere des Autors zweifelsfrei von großer Bedeutung sind. Die Schilderungen von Verlust und kultureller Spaltung, von Einsamkeit und Identitätssuche nehmen in einem Großteil seiner in Berlin spielenden Geschichten aus den zwanziger und dreißiger Jahren einen zentralen Platz ein.
