Jahrhunderts, Note: 2,0, Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (Philosophisches Seminar), Veranstaltung: Walter Benjamin: Sprache, Geschichte, Kultur, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Benjamins Aufsatz von 1919 ist von einem für ihn typischen Ansatz gekennzeichnet. Nicht unmittelbar stürzt er sich in die Wirrungen des ausgewählten Sujets, sondern er lädt den Leser ein, sich mit ihm auf eine Erkenntnisreise zu begeben. Mittels der Darbietung von allgemeinen Meinungen, wie in "Schicksal und Charakter", oder einer Schilderung von grundlegenden Thesen nimmt er den Leser, selbst sich als Leser offenbarend, an die Hand. Nicht aus den Fachbüchern, sondern aus dem Leben, aus dem Volk, aus den Büchern für das Volk hat er abgelesen. Allerdings hat er sich mit dem Ablesen nicht zufrieden gegeben, denn Benjamin wollte vom Ablesen zum Lesen selber kommen, zu dem, was ihm das Innere einer Sache selbst zu berichten hat. Der Ort der Wahrheit ist nach Benjamin nicht das Gemeine, welches zur Vermischung von Sphären neigt. Jede Existenz hat eine ihr eigene Authentizität, und die Wahrheit ist nicht eine Tatsache, die sich aus den Verbindungen ergibt . Was Benjamin im angesprochenen Aufsatz motiviert, ist die Erfahrung von einem Sein, von etwas, was er in sich vorfindet, doch das diese Existenz sich nicht deckt mit dem gängigen Verständnis. So scheinen seine Einleitungen gleichzeitig Erklärungen für sein Vorhaben zu sein. Gerade wo Benjamin Ungerechtigkeiten vermutet, wird sein Verlangen nach Wahrheit, nach der Innerlichkeit eines Sachverhalts lebendig. Er strebt, den Gehalt auszuleuchten, das, was die Zeit überdauert und über den gegenwärtigen Konstellationen liegt. Dabei ist der Inhalt nicht an die Darstellung gebunden, sondern Wörter und Namen sollen "etwas mitteilen (außer sich selbst)." Nur der Umweg, so Benjamins Methode, führt aus dem Alltäglichen in die Welt der Ideen. Und dieser Umweg muss nicht selte
