About the Book

In a feudal kingdom in ancient China, we meet Prince Zin. He is a noble and worthy prince who has secured the tranquility of his people, thanks to the numerous horses gifted to him by the king. He is held in high esteem and receives interviews with the king three times a day.

Despite his position, Prince Zin is not content to rest on his laurels. He wishes to advance further, but he is kept back by circumstances beyond his control. He remains firm and correct, though, and this brings him good fortune. Even when the king does not trust him, he maintains a large and generous mind, ensuring that there will be no error.

The prince's appearance suggests advancement, but he is sorrowful inside. His firm correctness, however, ensures that there will be good fortune. He receives a great blessing from his grandmother, the king's mother, which helps him to achieve success.

Prince Zin is trusted by all around him, and there is no occasion for repentance. However, there are still obstacles in his path. Line 4 suggests that he is in a position of peril, like a marmot stealthily advancing. This is dangerous for the prince who embodies the ideal of a feudal lord.

But despite these obstacles, the prince holds on his right course, indifferent to results. He advances with firm correctness and strong force, even using his horns to punish rebellious people in his city. While this position is perilous, it brings good fortune.

The hexagram Kăn represents thunder and movement taking place in society or in the kingdom. It indicates a time of insurrection or revolution and advises the party promoting it on how to conduct themselves in such times.

As movement approaches, the subject of Kăn should be aware of the dangers of the time but remain confident and self-possessed. The undivided line at the bottom of the hexagram gives an auspice of good fortune and suggests that the subject will be successful.

In the story, Prince Zin is the subject of the undivided line. He is sensible of the danger of the occasion, but he remains confident and self-possessed. He advances with firm correctness, and this brings him success.

The story follows the cause-and-effect relationship of Prince Zin's desire to advance, his obstacles, and his eventual success. It reveals every major plot twist, including the prince's blessing from his grandmother, his use of horns to punish rebels in his city, and his breathless dismay and looking around him with trembling apprehension in the face of startling movements.

The story is set in a feudal kingdom in ancient China, rich in detail that immerses readers in the setting. The characters are all major players in the story, including Prince Zin, the king, and the rebellious people in his city.

In conclusion, the story of Prince Zin is one of nobility, perseverance, and success. Despite facing obstacles and perilous situations, he remains firm and correct in his pursuit of advancement. The story is a captivating tale set in ancient China that will transport readers to another time and place.
