Once upon a beautiful day in Karalasia, Zalipher discovers a terrible
blight of colorlessness has come upon the land. A dark grey fog makes
everyone, including her best friend Pooker, sick and colorless.
Determined to save her friend and the jungle, Zalipher embarks on a
journey toward the mountain from where the smoke has come. Along
the way, she meets the different creatures of the jungle, some more
cautious than others about the sickness. Some even offer their help and
join her on her quest to find out just what has caused the illness and
the strange cloud. Zalipher braves the eerie fog, sinking sand, great
canyons, mountains, heights, and terrifying creatures. With the help of
her new friends, she discovers the secret to stopping the sickness and
cures Karalasia and all the creatures that live in it. Zalipher and the
Vanishing Color of Karalasia is a timely allegory for the recent COVID-19
epidemic, purposed to more accessibly explain the start and spread of
disease and the events of the last several years to children. The book
features creatures with different perspectives and approaches to the
pandemic and highlights the value of the hardwork and sacrifice by the
medical community to end it.
