About the Book

Being Autistic often times I find that people do not understand me. It is very frustrating for me to not be able to be understood. I have found comfort in finding a friend who understands me and is always there for me but what I have learned is that often times one friend cannot be with you or be there for you 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, or 365 days per year. What is missing? The ability to get others to understand me as well as my best friend Heather does. But I have such a hard time finding someone who understands the kind or level of help that I need in living with Autism. Maybe it is not just the Autism however though. Maybe it is the constant voices in my ear telling me I have to punish myself for being autistic and not being neurotypical. Maybe it is the constant fear I have of living without being neurotypical. Often times I am afraid to leave my house without having contact with someone who is neurotypical because I am afraid that people are going to try and harm me or even kill me because I am autistic. Sure there are many social struggles but I think what I am finding to be the most crippling part of having Autism for me is the accompanying and unwanted delusions, thoughts, hallucinations, and fears that I face on a daily basis. Those fears and other things that are going on have interfered greatly with my ability to live and enjoy life. They make it hard to get up in the morning. They make it hard to get ready for work. They make it hard to shave. They make it hard to shower. At some times in my life they make it hard to even have a clear thought in my head that makes any type of sense to anyone else but me. Though, to others these things are not real, to me this is a part of my daily life and living and growing up with Autism. In this book I will attempt to explain what it is like to live in fear that you are going to die from Autism. I will explain what it is like to hear voices that tell you that you should cut yourself or punish yourself because you are autistic. I will also explain what it is like to live in a constant state of fear that being separated from your neurotypical friend means that the people you went to high school with are going to try to find you and kill you because you are not neurotypical and cannot find any neurotypical friends. Thank God I have a great neurotypical best friend who is there for me and helps me.
