About the Book

'An eccentric mix of observation comedy and insightful poetry' by Performance Poet Louise Taylor and her alter ego, comedian Iona Jette. Iona has no truck with trivia, she confronts life head-on by penning poetry about socks, sex and stilettos with bikini lini waxing a close runner in the race for gold. That leaves Louise - in this her first collection - to touch upon love, life, death and, of course rock 'n' roll as well as waxing lyrical in her blogs about why business needs poetry. A poem will always go to the heart of the matter, transform the global into personal and make sense of a world that too often rattles the bones of madness. In Louise's blogs you'll learn how and why Louise, as a creative business coach, with her fusion of poetry and coaching tools, invites her women in business clients to Switch Off to Switch On!
About the Author: At the age of 9, as a result of writing a poem, Louise Taylor decided that what she wanted to be when she grew up was a writer. At 14 she discovered a gift for natural comic timing on stage. It was some time in her mid 30s that she finally began writing creatively again and to tread the boards in corporate cabarets and am dram. Fearing type casting as a flat chested spinster she decided to free her bosom and her soul by writing and performing her own material in her early 40s. She has now been writing and performing poetry, monologues and comedy for more than 20 years, as herself and her alter ego, Iona Jette. Louise and Iona have shared the stage at some of the UK's largest festivals: Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, Henley and London Comedy; at local community arts events: Lewes Artwave, Seaford Festival as well as headlining at spoken word venues: Express Excess, Camden Head, Oliver's Poetry and broadcast on BBC Radio. She's performed at private parties, in workshops and founded and compered at The Poet's Kitchen. Her comedy monologues have been described as 'Brilliant...contemporary spin on life'. In her signature workshop for women in business, Switch Off to Switch On!, Louise fuses her passion for poetry with her creative business coaching skills to open up participants' creativity so that they may swiftly find insights, solutions and emotional engagement. With more than 40 years of business experience, expertise and wisdom she has constantly found that the arts and poetry in particular enables people to relax, makes learning more accessible and the management of change easier - and more fun! Her forthcoming book about creativity and business: The Heroine's Journey in Business is written as a fable about women's leadership and the recovery of their inner power. Louise is an Angel with Attitude - a community a cappella choir, loves the ballet, theatre, jazz and classical music: short walks in the country with a pub at the destination and buying shoes.
