About the Book

The third volume in Asante Riverwind's "All Our Relations Series," a creative celebration through art & verse of Earth's interwoven web of life, the magic of which we all innately are. Born during the year of the Water Dragon, this book features Asante's original fine art and accompanying verse created during the return of the Water Dragon year, six decades later. Sourcing from dreams & visions, spirit & nature, Asante's art and poetry emerge with fresh inspiration and insight on our evolving journeys as creative spiritual beings. The first two books in this series are "Raven," for ravens and nature spirits everywhere, and "Canini," of wolves, coyotes, dog-wolves, and nature's wild magic. Beginning in childhood, followed with a decade of formal arts training, Asante's art weaves within a playful grace, artistic mastery, dance of colors, flowing details, and depths of meaning bringing awareness of our kindred nature with life and cosmos beyond time.
About the Author: Asante Riverwind is a life-long creator of fine art, blending a range of art traditions and cultures. Many of his works fuse Celtic and original designs with wild nature, dreams, visions, and spirit. Born in the Year of the Water Dragon, this fiery artist was taught and encouraged by his artistic mother as soon as he could hold a pencil. Ten years of formal study at five universities were concluded at Cornish Art Institute in Seattle, Washington, in 1980. His art has exhibited extensively, been featured worldwide, and included in a number of published books. Asante is a multi-decade activist on both social and ecological issues, co-founding a number of organizations and community groups since beginning as a teenager in 1968. In 2010, he founded a new arts and ecology resource, Gaia Ki. "Gaia" symbolizing the living Earth, "Ki" the flow of life energy, restoring balance and harmony. Asante is also a musician, writer, and poet. "Art and Evolution" is the name he uses for this amalgamation of activism and art. An ardent explorer of nature's wild wonders and spirit's limitless dimensions, Asante's art blends inspiration from wildland adventures, dreams and visions, creating images infused with life's magic. In this "interesting times" era, his art illuminates places of harmony, compassion, healing change and the inherent connection of all beings beyond time. Asante lived for over 16 years in tipi's, a yurt, an earth lodge, and a strawbale home - from an island in Puget Sound, to the forests of the Cascades and Blue Mountains, and Arizona's Sonoran desert-part of a commitment to ecological living. He has three grown sons, and a number of grandchildren, who help inspire his efforts. His elderly father's sudden need for care brought both Asante and his wife Sylvia to Florida in 2011. After over a year of living in Florida's humid flatlands, exploring its jungles, savannas, and gulf coast while caring for Asante's father, they all relocated to the Smoky Mountains area of North Carolina. Here they continue to help care for his father while creating art and exploring the region's beautiful mountain forests.
