Based on real-life events of my son, Yahya, from birth to three years. During this period, we discovered ourselves and messages echoed in our mind that turned into faith. This book is from our hearts to everyone who is seeking a little comfort and meaning to their unique situation. Also, we would like others to have a glance at a "special needs" life hoping to increase awareness and reduce prejudice. The book follows simple comic and graphic pictures to demonstrate our journey. Yahya has a rare genetic syndrome named CHARGE giving him various disabilities of bilateral profound hearing loss, vision impairment, missing vestibular system, feeding, and breathing problems. Yet he is very determined and resilient which has taught us so much.
Dive
I dived in, not that I knew how to swim.
I tried to be him, not that I knew how to feel.
Then there was fear, pain, pressure above and within.
Throbbing chest, squeezing throat, and gasping lungs; they were all dragging me down.
I let go, closed my eyes; just like him.
Then there was calm, there was a guide, escorting me around.
It was real, shutting my ears; just like him.
Then there was a wave, floating me above.
Wiggly trunk, wobbly legs, and extended arms; to help me rise.
I signed in, danced my fingers; just like him.
Then there was a talk and connection; I could love.
It was real, reaching my soul; just like him.
Then there was a reason, there was a cause to be around.
Please read the book, to know him.
Do not forget to let us know what you think of Yahya's adventures.
Your review and advice not only will help other buyers but also will help Yahya grow brighter.
