About the Book

A fifth-generation farm boy from Minnesota writes quirky stories about people and events from the Minnesota River Valley. The journey takes you through executions, mob lynchings, prohibitionists, gangsters, and the Ku Klux Klan-along with accounts of slavery and murder trials. The boy, his dad, and his grandfather tell tales, some laced with blarney, of their ancestors, relatives, and neighbors. Certain yarns will make you shake your head, some will leave you teary-eyed, and others will bring a chuckle; you might even laugh out loud. These are no-holds-barred cornball stories like none other and they'll leave you longing for more, even if you're not from Minnesota. This book has been certified 97% free of the politically correct virus. You betcha! trials. The boy, his dad, and his grandfather tell stories of their quirky ancestors, relatives and neighbors, all laced with true Irish blarney. Certain yarns will make you shake your head, some will leave you teary-eyed, and others will bring a chuckle, or you might just laugh out loud-even in the library. These are no-holds-barred cornball stories like none other and they will leave you longing for more, even if you're not from Minnesota. You betcha!
About the Author: John F. Weber was born and raised on a farm in Jessenland Township, Sibley County, in the Lower Minnesota River Valley. He grew up at the end of the small family farm era. After high school he spent four years in the Air Force, then graduated from Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. He went to law school at California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, and has practiced law in Barstow, California for twenty-seven years. He enjoys spending time with his three children-Matt, Melissa, and Jesse. To write this book, he dragged Jesse to almost every museum, historical society and site in Minnesota. John goes back to Minnesota every couple of months. One of his favorite activities is driving around with his parents and Jesse looking at crops, drainage and farm sites. They also enjoy seeing wildlife, churches and businesses. They often talk about politics and the old days of farming. Of course, they finish the evening off with lunch.
