About the Book

Viney and Kumud Kaushals, a couple living in Chicago, USA, defied the conventional logic of playing things safe, chose the riskier options in life, and ventured onto the unpaved pathways. They journeyed through six decades globally, nearly four decades together, experiencing deep and permanent changes in themselves. Over a career spanning 40 plus years, they along with their two children, traversed the globe as expatriates living in India, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Singapore, and USA. In addition, they have visited more than thirty countries and many of them repeatedly during their world travels. In answer to a promise made to Viney's father in 1993, Viney and Kumud dug deep into their memories and their hearts to convey to their children and grandchildren, their family and friends, and readers everywhere the cultural experiences that taught them many life lessons and transformed them into global citizens. Today they have US, Canadian, and Indian Overseas nationalities but consider themselves true global citizens In this book, the Kaushals walk through their life journey and discover that they have always recognized today as the best day of life to realize one's dreams. Life is a self-catered party and everyone decides who to invite and how to enjoy it. The Kaushals provide stories and lessons from fulfilling their own dream of seizing opportunities as they came and making the most of life.
About the Author: Viney Kaushal left his comfortable senior government job in India in 1981 at the age of 29 to search for greener pastures in life. In the next 34 years, this village boy moved 20 times internationally, lived in 6 countries and visited 37 countries on 5 continents, and learned continuously about cultures and people along the less-traveled roads. During his 40 years of corporate journey, Viney has worked internationally for Indian, European, Canadian and US companies. A double MBA, this former Managing Director of Accenture lives with his wife in Chicago, where he wants to make the best of his recent retirement. He hopes to discover as many of the remaining countries of the world as possible before the call comes. Kumud Kaushal is an educator, banker, and entrepreneur. She left her banking career in India in 1982 to venture overseas with her husband. She grew up in India, lived in difficult places for women like Iraq and Saudi Arabia for eight years, blossomed in the free societies of Canada and the USA, and explored fifteen Asia Pacific countries extensively during her husband's posting to Singapore. She now looks forward to exploring much more of the world with her husband while enjoying her two young grandchildren in Boston. She has the distinction of having been mistaken as a local in most of the countries she has visited, especially in Asia Pacific.
