About the Book

"Every soul is a story and every story is a soul." Here are some soulful tales and some fictitious souls waiting to be awakened by young readers. This book is a collection of 13 short stories that begin with the Story of a Dream and takes you through a magical journey of love and hatred, of fanatsy and reality, of dreams and dreamers with some words and some magic. Below are some excerpts of the stories to give you a drift of the collection The Story of a Dream: "Khwaab left all of us, he left Darr and Sahara. He left Duniya and Gyaan and also left back Tamanna, crying for him. Tamanna was the girl who was the sole representative of his dreams, the one who was the representative of the world and its conventional beliefs. And the only things that khwaab carried along with him to his grave, were his dreams, the dreams of being a writer, an artist." Just a Wordsmith: "Do you believe in God? I know he is a writer too and the best author I have ever read. You, I, we, all of us are his works, and his stories. This world is his paper, these moments are his pen and we, each one of us, are his individual protagonists." The Clown who Cried: "That day, the crowd saw something else. Jokers also cry and clowns are also humans, they too have tears. But artists, they are just enchanters, not of spells but of their own magic. And Victor, he was just a magician who, with the last parting act, left people wondering even if his tears were real or just a part of the act." Over the Edge of the Book: There is Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, and then, there is Thomas Hardy, and Jane Eyre, and the Brontes. And in the end, there is Shakespeare, yes in the end. But then, he is the beginning and the end of everything, because from him there is Romeo, and in him, there is Juliet." Remember Me: "And what is love if it does this to you, in a moment it tells you that God exists, in your lover's eyes and in another moment, somewhere ahead in time, it comes to you and whispers in your ears- Listen, I guess your God just died." A Writer and his Ballerina: "There was no music then, not even lights or people, or anything. There was just her and me. She was the music and she was the dance and me, I was just the people, the people she danced with, the people that I wanted to be." The Forgetful Love: "She can't see properly anymore and she can't even remember things. My doctor, well actually our doctor, he says that she is losing her memory. But I just think that she has aged beautifully. Maybe God just wanted this for her so that she could not see me decay in my old age." Doctor Stefanie: "I look beyond those trees and there, I see the sun shining above us. But its rays do not fall on us directly. In small patches of light, bright light, they descend down from the canopy of trees on your face. His Last Letter: "People who are meant to be, do not always land up staying together and people who are not meant to be, sometimes land up loving each other more....." Gumnaam Sitaare (Hindi): "Par kehte hai nah, insaan ki zindagi shayad kuch aur hi hoti, agar ye sawalo ke daayre use samet nahi pati." Inheritance of Shoes: "He is teareyed, of cours, he must have felt bad. But those tears are not what we think they are. The droplets that are flowing out of his eyes are not of pain but of pride. Ting: "But seriously, I don't hate her, as much as I hate her mother. No, actually I don't hate her at all. And I am glad she has her mother inside her, at least I know that there is some place, where my love is still living." Diamonds from Someone Special: "Love cannot be controlled. It finds a way to exist, even in hatred it does. And so was the love of Nature and God, eternal and uncontrollable."
