The author believes in the accuracy of the Bible, as written in the original languages. Unfortunately, the translation process and cultural biases have occasionally clouded or changed the meaning of the scriptures as originally written. Sometimes, the words we use mean one thing in the original language, but something entirely different in our own. One of the problematic Greek words is "kephale" (kef-al-ay'). Kephale means "head." Most of the time, kephale refers to the thing sitting on top of our necks; but in a handful of uses, it means something else. That something else is where we find the problem. In this study, we're going to restore the original meaning of the affected verses, in order to better understand what God is actually saying to us.
About the Author: With the exception of a fifteen-year desert experience, Richard Johnson has been a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ since the age of five. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he grew up next door to Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As a boy, he played in Harvard Yard, riding his bike down the steps of the Widener Library until campus security made him stop. During the late sixties and early seventies, Richard's career as an acoustic folk-blues guitarist and singer-songwriter began to take off; but he drank and drugged his career down the toilet in the mid-seventies. Through a series of miracles, Richard had his last drink and drugs on December 31st, 1979, and has remained clean and sober ever since. He says he knows what comes after recovery; a full and rich life! A life crisis in 1982 was the catalyst God used to bring Richard back to Christ. If you asked him, he would tell you, in that moment of clarity, he knew that his life had been bought and paid for by the Lord, and was no longer his own. His ambition ever since has been to see that Jesus gets what He paid for. Richard was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in 1994, and commissioned as a Bishop and Apostle in 2017. During one ten year period in their ministry, Richard and his wife, Rev. Dawn Marie Johnson, along with their two kids, lived in a fifth-wheel trailer, traveling throughout the United States and Canada in itinerant prison ministry. By the time they were done, they had visited thirty-eight states and four Canadian provinces. They founded Christian Formation Ministries, Inc. in 2005, to "reduce crime, one changed life at a time." Most of the incarcerated and newly-released offenders who join their faith-based mentoring program succeed in breaking the cycle of addiction and crime. Richard travels extensively to mentor, train, and encourage church and ministry leaders, and to teach, preach, and share his unique blend of acoustic "Christian swamp music."
