About the Book

Wolves in Dogs' Clothing is the second novel in the Wolf Trilogy by New Zealand novelist Christodoulos Moisa. It is New Year's Eve 1973 in Nicosia, Cyprus. New Zealand journalist Steve Carpenter is celebrating the occasion with his friend Inspector Petros Zimaras and his family and is looking forward to a happier 1974. But it is not to be. In the early hours of the next morning, Zimaras receives a call from UN headquarters on the island alerting him that their helicopter patrol has found a body within the Green Line, the buffer zone that separates the Greek Cypriots from their Turkish counterparts. This brutal event marks the beginning of a tumultuous year for Carpenter and Zimaras, as they are drawn into solving a series of cold-blooded murders against a backdrop of civil war and invasion. The two friends find their mettle tested to the limit, in a climate where they, and all the others who live on the Mediterranean island, are forced to question loyalties and long-held beliefs and to face threats from both within and beyond.

"No. 2 in fascinating trilogy ... Chris has done his research and knows the time and place of which he writes ... but his own writing skills give honesty to the characters and how they live their lives. ... Once introduced to the novels of Chris Moisa one is hooked." PAUL BROOKS - Midweek/New Zealand Herald
"Moisa gives the reader a terrific geography lesson, in the style of Elmore Leonard ... It is an excellent read for one who enjoys a well-spun story." AMAZON BOOKS
"Moisa writes with the assuredness of someone who is in total command of his craft ... It's a style that I appreciate. I learn while I am enthralled by the action." DOUG DAVIDSON - River City Press
"... Like all good historical fiction, there are plenty of other interesting things to learn ... Moisa accurately embeds his story in this tumultuous era ... If the second part of any trilogy should take its protagonist into the darkest places, then Moisa has succeeded in spades." ANTONY MILLEN - Crime Watch

About the Author: Christodoulos Moisa is an award-winning poet and artist. He was born in 1948 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand to immigrant Cypriot parents. He spent five years of his childhood, and a further eighteen months in 1972/73, in Cyprus. Moisa has published six slim volumes of poetry and the critically acclaimed long poem The Desert. In 2010 his first book of short stories, Blood and Koka Kola, was published. In 2016 he published two novels, The Hour of the Grey Wolf and Overcast Sunday. Moisa lives and works in Whanganui, New Zealand. This is what was said about Wolves in Dogs' Clothing: Doug Davidson in the RIVERCITY PRESS - Wanagnuyi, New Zealand (23 Novemebr 2017) The novel is set in Cyprus during the coup and the Turkish invasion in 1974 and the major plot based on a series of brutal murders is supported by a number of equally intriguing sub plots .... the writing style is a combination thriller and interesting snippets about history, politics, society and mythology. It is a style that I appreciate. I learn while I am kept enthralled by the action. ... the Turkish invasion, which Chris although from a Greek background, writes about with admirable balance, and gives another depth to the novel. Chris ... writes with an assuredness of someone who is in control of his craft ...The novel is over 400 pages and generally, I prefer shorter novels but I read "Wolves in Dogs' Clothing" over a couple of evenings, such was my interest. The layout of the pages with paragraph gaps and larger margins is a distinct plus. It would make a well-received present for any book reader. Michael Sharkey. Australian Poet and Literary Editor: "The history, cultural details, language and pace make a splendid moving narrative." Kevin ireland, New Zealand poet and recipient of the NZ Prime Ministers Literary Award. "A remarkable, eloquent and passionate description of lives and hopes and endeavours. And it is testimony to ever-broadening range of our literature."
