Diese Frage steht im Zentrum der vorliegenden Arbeit. Entscheidend ist hier aber nicht seine Didaktik und die Umsetzung dieser in der Schule, sondern Klafkis zeitgemäße Bildungstheorie. Konkret ist dies das Verständnis Klafkis von Bildung in seinen, in der "Abschied von der Aufklärung" dargestellten, neun Thesen zur zeitgemäßen Bildungskonzeption. Klafkis Allgemeinbildungstheorie beinhaltet zwei Dimensionen, die des Zusammenschlusses von Selbstbestimmungs-, Mitbestimmungs- und Solidaritätsfähigkeit, sowie die der Bildung für alle, Bildung im Medium des Allgemeinen und der vielseitigen Bildung. Dabei liegt der Fokus in der letzten Dimension hier auf der "Auseinandersetzung mit Schlüsselproblemen" . So soll untersucht werden, ob sich diese Schlüsselprobleme, welche von Klafki als zentrale Probleme unserer Gegenwart und Zukunft angesehenen werden und der Zusammenschluss der genannten der "Grundfähigkeiten" in den Richtlinien und Lehrplänen des Sachunterrichts in NRW wiederfinden lassen. Dazu werden zunächst Klafkis Bildungskonzeption, sowie seine Beweggründe zur Erstellung dieser, ausführlich dargelegt. Im Anschluss daran soll herausgestellt werden was Klafki vom Sachunterricht an Grundschulen fordert und wieso die Schlüsselprobleme seiner Bildungstheorie als Basis für diesen geeignet sind. Klafki entwickelte in neun Thesen die Grundlinien einer neuen Bildungskonzeption, welche als "Orientierungsrahmen für die Weiterentwicklung oder die Reform unseres Bildungswesens" gelten soll.
