Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es zu klären, ob Verbraucher aus wohlfahrtsökonomischer Sicht blind informiert werden sollten, wie es teilweise der Fall ist, oder ob es manchmal besser ist, Konsumenten nicht zu informieren. Damit sollen Anreize zu einer kritischeren Hinterfragung des Informierungsinstruments gegeben werden, um sich einem idealen Informierungssystem annähern zu können. Diese Arbeit konzentriert sich auf individuelle Renten, nur teilweise auf die aggregierte Konsumentenrente. Sie behandelt keinen Nutzen und keine Kosten aus Produzenten- oder staatlicher Seite, da dies für die prinzipielle Problemstellung irrelevant ist. Ethische Bedenken werden in einem Exkurs aufgefasst. In dieser Fragestellung ist es essenziell, interdisziplinär - ethisch, juristisch, ökonomisch, politisch - vorzugehen, da diese nicht rein ökonomisch angegangen werden kann, zumal das Wohl von Menschen, das in einem gesellschaftlichen System eingebettet ist, im Zentrum steht. Um die Zielsetzung zu verfolgen, wird im ersten Teil der Arbeit angeschnitten, wieso sich Information von anderen Gütern unterscheidet und ein handliches, jedoch nicht unumstrittenes Wohlfahrtsmaß vorgeschlagen, dessen Grenzen später beschrieben werden. In Kapitel drei wird weiterhin an die Rationalitätsannahme angelehnt und aufgezeigt, wie sich Information in einem Entscheidungskalkül bemerkbar macht, und dass auch hier durch diverse weitergehende Überlegungen zur Schlussfolgerung gekommen werden kann, dass Information nicht strikt positiv bewertet werden muss. In Kapitel vier wird von der Rationalitätsannahme abgesehen und ein verhaltensökonomischer Ansatz geboten, der die These eines negativen Werts mancher Informatio
