About the Author: Bob Rubino, born in Trenton New Jersey, graduated from Princeton Country Day School, Lawrenceville School and Georgetown University with an English major, science minor and philosophy minor. After graduation, he moved to New York City. The following years were dedicated to raising more than 39 children in foster care or the juvenile justice system, all "throwaways." Trying to rehabilitate them in the system with many flaws, Bob Rubino experienced the unending turmoil and frustrating stumbling blocks these teenagers and foster parents encountered within the foster care system. When his son Wally died unexpectedly and tragically he was faced with another challenge. He had raises two granddaughters as single grandparent. Realizing how ineffective the "system" was, he became a strong advocate for similar children and the relative caregivers and pursued ways of initiating legislative changes.
