About the Book

PART 1: GENERATIONS: The scene opens with the burial of Mama. Ada is noted at the scene of the event but feels a different kind of sorrow than the remorse felt from losing a parent. The burial ceremony brings her other siblings together one more time but they arrive behind schedule. She starts off with personal memories of the past. Still, in this same story is another time where history brings us a tale through the eyes of poetry as we see what was. The past is a necessary link to the present. She seems to be the more active sibling of all and with time, learns that she and her immediate younger brother do not share a maternal bond as the rest of the siblings. This truth comes as a puzzle fixer for her.PART 2: IMMATURE: Ema, a young lady loses her family at the tender age of five which leaves her with a speech defect as a result of the trauma. Although she goes through life like any other child, at a young age she is notably sarcastic, funny, queer, interesting and sometimes, emotional. She interacts with her reader like a friend she doesn't know or care to know but still tells her story feeling safe to do so, after all, there's nothing to lose.PART 3: TERNA: You never know someone truly until you find out. This is a story about a young woman who secretly suffers depression but is embarrassed to admit so. She feels that society expects her to act like she is supposed to fit in. Emotionally, she is unbalanced. This is as a result of suppressing the terror that looms around her. Found dead in her room, there are other secrets she kept to the end. But you can't judge her immediately without knowing her. Before her death, she befriends an old lady since she finds comfort in her ability to listen and empathize with her but as days go by, she gradually goes into withdrawal then the end.PART 4: BENEATH THE NEEM TREE: In a marked spot in their family compound epic events happen, death betrayal and a song. Ohi is a young girl who has an elder and younger sister. She is free spirited but introverted. She secretly admires and envies her sisters. She is puzzled at how her younger sister perceives life differently somehow believing that her younger sister is an incarnate of a princess as her grandmother professes to know. She betrays her elder sister and is loyal to the younger sister but is all born out of love for each of them in different ways. Her parents don't seem to notice her much but she is comfortable in her own skin.PART 5: AS I AM: Ojogo Nasim is a young man from a respectable clan who with time realises that he does not get everything he wants from life. He is of mixed ethnicity but gradually finds meaning and purpose in his life. He is a calm man who aspires to become an artistic icon. He is natural and you can't help but fall in love with him while you understand his perspective of life.
