About the Book

The Wilde Woman's Guide to Organizing in Five Simple Steps: Using Mindfulness to Change Your Habits was developed for people who would like to be organized as a way of living, rather than get temporarily organized. Physically organize yourself and understand the emotional and mental roots that cause disorganization. Conversational style, with questions asked and suggestions offered. Joyce B. Wilde, M.S., is a psychologist, writer, and international speaker who helps creative professionals through challenging transitions by teaching them how to organize effectively and communicate compassionately.
About the Author: Joyce Wilde's background in restaurant ownership, mental health, and law enforcement-and her decades of recovery from alcoholism-give her unique insight into organizing and transitioning issues. Joyce stopped drinking in 1989. The catalyst was her sister's death in a drunken driving accident. On Joyce's ninth day of sobriety, her father, a recovering alcoholic himself, died of a heart attack. A few years later, she transitioned into a new life by selling her ownership in a restaurant/bar business and returning to school. She received a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology. Over the next fourteen years she worked as Senior Researcher at the UCLA - Neuropsychiatric Institute at Camarillo State Hospital; as a Residential Director of an unlocked Psychiatric Rehabilitation Facility; and as Program Administrator for a Crisis Intervention Team training program for eleven Ventura County, California, law enforcement agencies. In each scenario, she used organizing methods which she developed and refined. Those organizing efforts in conjunction with her own recovery from compulsive drinking, smoking, eating, and shopping have given her a clear understanding of how to manage effectively the thoughts and behaviors that are the roots of disorganization. Joyce loves to share effective ways to address core issues that lead to challenges with organizing effectively, communicating compassionately, and transitioning smoothly. She has been meditating daily for nearly a dozen years; and her understanding of mindfulness comes from this practice. Her clientele include business people and retired professionals who express their appreciation for her authenticity and ability to deal with delicate issues in a clear and straightforward manner. Her personal challenges and work experiences equip her to identify obstacles others face and help them change their habits into positive, productive, and healthy lifestyles. "Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become." Cicero, Rome (106-43 B.C.)
