Sigi Sommer lief als Blasius, der Spaziergänger fast 38 Jahre lang für die Abendzeitung durch seine Heimatstadt. Er schilderte die kleine Welt Münchens - das Alltagsleben in der Vorstadt mit ihren kleinen Leuten und Zaungästen des Lebens. Amüsant und ein wenig sentimental, boshaft und melancholisch entsteht hier das München, das Sigi Sommer nie mehr verlassen wollte. Die Leser liebten Blasius als lustiges Lästermaul. Das Buch entdeckt noch einen anderen Sigi Sommer. Er war ein Poet, aber auch ein scharf beobachtender Chronist und ein zeitkritischer Journalist. Spöttisch, ironisch und gelegentlich lautstark polternd wandte er sich gegen politische und gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen wie die Wiederbewaffnung und die Notstandsgesetze. In diesem Sinne enthält das Buch nicht nur seine lustigen Plaudereien, sondern vergessene, manchmal traurige Geschichten, die viel über seine Anfänge, sein Leben, sein Denken und seine Zeit verraten. Daß man auch sie oft mit einem Lächeln liest, ist bezeichnend für Sigi Sommer.
About the Author: Siegfried Sommer, 1914 in München geboren, verbrachte die ersten Jahre seines Lebens als Pflegekind in Niederbayern. Schon früh begann er zu schreiben. Ab 1939 erlebte er als Soldat die Schrecken des Zweiten Weltkrieges. Er schrieb während dieser Zeit weiter Gedichte und gewann einen Literatur-Wettbewerb. Nach dem Krieg kehrte er nach München zurück und arbeitete als Lokalreporter und Sportberichterstatter für die Süddeutsche Zeitung. Von 1948 bis 1987 erschien seine Kolumne Blasius der Spaziergänger in der Abendzeitung. Die Figur des Blasius machte ihn schon zu Lebzeiten zu einer Legende, er wurde Münchens beliebtester Journalist. Sein erster Roman Und keiner weint mir nach, erschienen 1953, wurde von Bertolt Brecht als der Beste der Nachkriegszeit bezeichnet. Der zweite Roman Meine 99 Bräute folgte 1956. Sigi Sommer starb 1996 in München. Für sein Werk erhielt er u.a. den Karl-Valentin-Orden, den Ernst-Hoferichter-Preis und den Bayerischen Verdienstorden. 1998 wurde am Roseneck im Zentrum Münchens das Sigi-Sommer-Denkmal enthüllt.
