About the Book
As the author of "Short of a Miracle," a collection of short stories which took audiences by storm to places storytelling hasn't been in quite some time. So, I decided to use the same formula used in constructing my second literary accomplishment: The White Album- Lie. Cheat. Steal: An Unconventional Collection of Poetry. The book is like a human's heart; but, it's broken into three sections: The HERE, the THEN, and THE NOW. Each chapter covers a bit of my knowledge and growth regarding Love, Literature (Poetry), and Story-Telling."The THEN"Focuses on what I identify as my pillars of poetry. A style that has influenced me, my work, and my perspectives, related to Love, Story-Telling, and Art. I've sited Shakespeare quite a bit, because it was Shakespeare who I regarded as having influenced me the most. It is Shakespeare who I owe my masculinity as it relates to writing about Love, my openness on the subject, my honesty, and my fascinations concerning the same topics in addition to my curiosities surrounding death. In regards to how I articulate Love and translate all colors, tones, and emotions, to Shakespeare I owe everything."The HERE"The HERE is the homage to a great historical American stylistic approach to poetry. It's what has influenced the world and the culture of which I am from; primarily it's 1960s-1990s pop-culture: Precisely, my interpretation of what that is as well as what it has meant to me. Within these pages it is my hopes that readers find similarities that allow them to recall some of the most iconic poets or bar room theologians, of those generations, who engaged in such rhythmic parades as the dozens, bar room banter, or childhood games, such as the "snaps," iconized by performers like Dolemite, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, or such television sitcoms like: "Good Times," "The Jefferson's," "Sanford & Son," or "What's Happening." It has been through a sort of enculturation amongst these shows as well as by Family and Friends that I'm able to share this slice of American Culture and life. It's freedom; here, I've written freely, equally, expressively, and in some cases extremely, in such a liberating style I feel privilege to call entirely my own."The NOW"Today, I am the very same Eugene- but, perhaps a bit older: in my 30s now; a bit wiser and influenced by a great many other facets relating to the world and what it has to offer. I've been everywhere to create this book: Los Angeles, New York, Vegas, Utah, Texas, Florida, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Colorado, Arizona, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, South Korea, Turkey, Russia, Denmark, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Including America, I've been to Europe, Asia, Russia, Korea, and the Tajikistan. I've studied, lived, and seen a variety of different cultures, found beauty in women of all ages, and I've identified a multitude of similarities between a variety of people, oceans across from one another. All of this and so much more has influenced my work. Therefore, I share with you: The Then, the Here, & the Now: THE WHITE ALBUM.Be sure to leave a review.
