Teach tweens and teens what Christianity says about virtues and vices with this collection of Biblical and morality tales meant to educate children about the choices they must make between right and wrong.
Former Sunday school teacher and youth leader Cheryl Touryan enlists the help of her grandson Benjy Whelan to write and illustrate 'Whatever' Is a Choice. Here, Touryan uses the structure of the seven virtues and seven vices, traditional in the Christian church, to teach morality from a modern perspective.
Exuding a warm, inviting tone, Touryan adopts a grandmotherly persona to bring her stories about God, the Bible, and growing up to life. Generosity, for example, is explained through a story about two twin brothers. One brother spends and spends, while the other saves. Soon, the more frugal brother makes a new friend-a poor young Syrian boy-and helps him out by buying him a soccer ball and other much-needed items.
Today's children have many choices to make. Whether you're a parent, a youth pastor, or just someone who wants to make a positive difference, help them make the right decisions with 'Whatever' Is a Choice.
