West-östliche Stereotypen in Geschichte und Gegenwart, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Ursache für die Herausbildung und Verwendung von Stereotypen und Feindbildern sieht die historische Forschung in politische Krisen, Kriegen und damit verbundenen gesellschaftlichen Umbrüchen. Kennzeichnend für solche Extremsituationen ist, dass sie verunsichernd, bedrohlich und desorientierend auf die Menschen wirken können, was ihr Verhalten und ihre Denkweise besonders anfällig für Stereotype macht. Nach dem Ende des Ersten Weltkrieges wurde die deutsche Gesellschaft, einerseits, durch die Niederlage und die Auflösung des Deutschen Reiches und anderseits durch die Gebietsverluste im Osten schwer erschüttert. Aus dem Wunsch nach Revision des Versailler Friedenvertrages und den Nachkriegsgrenzen entstand die Ostforschung, die sich nicht nur auf das Gebiet der Geschichtswissenschaft beschränkte, sondern auch andere Disziplinen wie Soziologie, Geographie, Wirtschaft und andere auffasste. Kennzeichnend für die deutsche Ostforschung war ihre starke Politisierung und deutschzentrierte Sicht der Geschichte, wobei das deutsche Volk in den Vordergrund der historischen Ereignisse gestellt wurde und die osteuropäischen Völker nur für die eigenen Forschung eine Relevanz hatten. In den neu entstandenen Staaten Osteuropas, sowie in allen Ländern, die nach dem Krieg Teile ihres Territoriums verloren hatten, war die Zwischenkriegszeit durch eine Schwäche der Demokratie und zugleich durch eine Radikalisierung des Nationalismus und Antisemitismus gezeichnet. Da das Judentum in Osteuropa im Vergleich zu Westeuropa eine bedeutende Minderheit bildete, war es, einerseits, dem Antisemitismus der Staatsvölker ausgesetzt und wurde, anderseits
