After various tests, it was concluded that the lump was an aggressive form of cancer which had already spread to my lymph nodes. As an ordained minister and former missionary, one would think that upon hearing this horrible news, faith would naturally arise. I wish I could say that was the case, but it was not. Faith did not arise at that moment. In fact, terror did. Though God had walked me through various hardships in the past, I found that as each new one came, greater amounts of courage were required. And I was fairly certain that I did not have enough to defeat the one on hand. I began to search through various Christian teachings, watching videos and listening to podcasts about faith. How can we get more of it? What do we do when we doubt? Can we still move mountains if we are found lacking? I listened to so many preachers until I became convinced that my future success or failure all hinged on my ability to produce enough of this mystical substance called faith. It wasn't until I came back to the Lord with my questions that I realized my breakthrough could never be dependent upon me. I would never measure up. My victory was and always had been dependent upon him. God had already provided everything that I needed to see my request answered, and he would show me how to walk the path laid before me. Once I took my eyes off the waves and off my puny self, I was able to see just how loving and powerful he is. This book is not a self-help book because I have no idea how to help myself, much less try to help you. This book is also not a collection of all of my heroic moments. Most of the stories that I tell are about me trying to run away from my giants with my tail tucked between my legs. I am not a hero, but I know Someone who is. This book is my attempt to share the truth with others that you do not have to have it all together to see God move your mountains.
