About the Book

Web Development with jQuery is a thorough update to Wrox's popular Beginning JavaScript and CSS Development with jQuery from 2009. Featuring over 50% new and revised content, the new edition features expanded coverage of events, CSS, AJAX, animation, drag and drop and new chapters on popular features such as jQuery UI, navigation, tables, interactive capabilities, audio and video, and several chapters on mobile. Since 2009, the market for mobile development has exploded. In 2009, the iPad was not yet released, and the iPhone was only two years old. The revised version includes discussion on mobile, and an introduction to jQuery mobile, and the spectrum of associated plugins.
The 2nd edition includes:
• Full cover of newer and better method of event handling, which is extremely advantageous for memory and performance.
• Substantial changes to jQuery UI, including changes to class and id names, HTML structure, and APIs.
• Expanded coverage of drag and drop uploads of files, a useful and popular feature
• New web development opportunities brought about with features now found in various HTML5 and CSS3 specifications. In 2009, HTML5 and CSS3 were both still new and support for features was new and limited.
• HTML5 forms, including new inputs that make validating data input easier and more intuitive for users
• HTML5 email input type for mobile devices changed to provide a modified keyboard that is ideal for email input
• HTML5 video functionality
