Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Wirtschaft und Industrie, Note: gut, Universität Wien, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Einzigartigkeit eines Unternehmens ist mit der Individualität des Menschens zu vergleichen und lässt sich dadurch erklären, dass die Unternehmenskultur sich aus bereits gemachten Erfahrungen, aus Legenden, Traditionen und daraus entstandenen Wertvorstellungen und Gewohnheiten konstituiert.1 Unternehmen sind einzigartig und nie identisch, auch dann nicht, wenn die Unternehmen derselben Branche angehören oder ihr Standort direkt nebeneinander liegt. Unternehmenskultur als Konzept hat sich in den frühen 80er Jahren etabliert. Das Werk von Peter und Watermans 'The search of excellence' (1982) führte den Begriff Unternehmenskultur zu wirklicher Popularität, wodurch die Anzahl der diesbezüglichen Publikationen rapide stieg und Ende der 80er Jahre einen Höhepunkt erlangte.2 Seit dieser Zeit ist das wissenschaftliche Interesse im Bereich Unternehmenskultur nach Auffassung der Autorin rückläufig.3 Unternehmenskulturelle Modelle der Achtziger Jahre (z.B. SCHEIN4, SACKMANN5 etc.) scheinen auch heute noch als wichtigste Ausgangspunkte in der Literatur auf. Auch schon in den Achtziger Jahren dargestellte theoretische Lücken6sind nach Auffassung der Autorin zum großen Teil bis heute nicht geschlossen. Dennoch ist Unternehmenskultur auch heute noch immer ein Thema. So wird sie von Herrn PENZEL, Leiter des Zentralen Merger Offices der HypoVereinsbank München, als einer von sechs Erfolgsfaktoren bei Mergern angesehen, er sieht die Zusammenführung von Kulturen als eine "besondere Herausforderung".7
