Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2018 im Fachbereich Politik - Grundlagen und Allgemeines, Note: 1,7, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main (Institut für Politikwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Seminar Demokratie: Theorie und Praxis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Seit den siebziger Jahren sinkt die Wahlbeteiligung in Deutschland, nicht nur bei Bundestagswahlen, Landtagswahlen und Kommunalwahlen, sondern auch bei Bürgermeisterwahlen, flächendeckend. Es ist auch "jeder dritte Wähler älter als 60 Jahre". (Abendschön/Roßteutscher 2011) Doch für die Demokratie ist es wichtig, dass auch junge Leute wählen gehen. Warum dies so ist, erkläre ich in dieser Arbeit. Das Ergebnis muss eine erhöhte Mitbestimmung der jungen Leute in der Demokratie sein. Dies beinhaltet, dass die Interessen jüngerer Wähler stärker wahrgenommen werden, wie beispielsweise die Nutzung neuer Technologien, neue Bildungssysteme und Umweltschutz, damit eine Weiterentwicklung der Demokratie auch für diese Wähler stattfinden kann. Es darf keinen Unterschied zwischen sozial benachteiligten und sozial bessergestellten bei der Wahlbeteiligung geben. Basis der Überlegungen sind die Ansätze von Schäfer (2011). Er geht auf die politische Gleichheit aller Bürger ein und beschäftigt sich damit, warum vor allem junge Leute selten zur Wahl gehen. Dabei kommt er zum Entschluss, dass vor allem sozial benachteiligte es schwer haben sich in der Politik einzubringen, seien es bei den Wahlen oder bei andere Beteiligungsformen, wie Proteste oder Bürgerinitiativen. Im Fokus steht außerdem das Buch von Kaeding, Haußner und Pieper (2016). In dieser Arbeit geht es primär um die Nichtwähler und deren sozialer Schieflage. Außerdem gehen sie auf Maßnahmen zur Steigerung der Wahlbeteiligung ausführlich ein. Die Arbeit gliedert sich in drei Teile. Zuerst untersuche ich die Einflussnahme von Jungwählern auf die Demokratie und welche Gründe die Politik liefert, dass junge Leute seltener zur Wahl gehen. Danach widme ich mich der F
