Kim is a self-proclaimed ordinary person living an extraordinary life. She's loved and lost; she's felt hope and heartache; but through a series of coincidences, she may just find the happy ending she's always wanted.
Visions of motherhood have captivated Kim ever since she was a little girl. As she studies fashion and cosmetology, works at a hair salon, and goes on incredible vacations, she counts down the days until she can start a family. But when the time seems to be right, everything goes wrong.
Her adorable dog acts as a stand-in child through the unbearable waiting. Mixed among the colorful details of Warrior Brave Protector are genuine grief and persistent pain. Though Kim endures illness and family crises, she discovers that life's difficulties ultimately bring her a greater appreciation of its beauty.
With all the heart of Marley and Me, this recollection of a life is about believing in the power of the universe and reaching your goals against all odds.
"An absorbing and frank book that chronicles the author's triumph over health and personal crises." - Kirkus Reviews
About the Author: For her eighteenth birthday, Kim. Mills H. had planned for weeks to skip school and drive her 1967 Mustang to the beach. She had a paper due that same day, so she hastily wrote it in spite of serious writer's block and had a friend turn it in for her. She came home with a sunburn and went to the next class to find she'd earned a perfect grade.
So although Kim was tempted to find a ghostwriter for Warrior Brave Protector, her family and friends advised her to tell the story in her own words, and when she recalled her high school confidence, she decided to write it herself. While writing, she found her voice again and recounted every last detail from the heart.
