Approach to the Historical Novel War of Independence. Ensign. The War of Independence of the New Granada in the Province of Popayán comprises three types of confrontation. 1. Armed encounters of small political units seeking to impose military policy on the colonial state of the Spanish monarchy. And two forms of Republican State. United Provinces and the State of Cundinamarca. The United Provinces are federalist. The State of Cundinamarca is Centralist. 3. The war between these two forms of State (Federalists and Centralists) and the war against the guarantors of the Colonial State in Southern Colombia. The theatre of military operations has a high concentration of fighting along the corridor from the Confederated Cities of Valle del Cauca to Valle del Patía in Cauca and San Juan de Pasto in Nariño. After the first victory of the independence army of Valle del Cauca and Santa Fe (1811) the Colonel and surgeon of the United States of America Dr. Alejandro Macaulay and his legionary soldiers joined the army. Platoon of fifty men. In Santa Fe are the legions of France and England. And they make their presence in the War of the Campaigns of the South of Colombia with other legions of Italy and Holland.
