The need to get somewhere, or get away from something, will bring six unlikely traveling companions together for a cross-country summer road trip. The summer journey will take them from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, from Texas to New England, from a small community in Nevada to the crowded streets of New York City. It will bring chances to see new places and experience new things.
The trip is how one of the wanderers will spend his remaining days. The rest of the group will be in a period of transition as their lives change.
Their wandering will not only bring change, but also freedom, love, anger, sadness, pain, death, fear, and unwanted fame.

The wanderers will put aside their own problems as they are drawn into a tragedy and find themselves assisting others in dealing with their grief and heartache.
They will explore historic sites and museums and look at their own pasts, and some will get a surprise from the past.
The wanderers must keep in mind the future as they head toward it. Some of the group must make decisions that can affect the rest of their lives and those around them.
