"Natur erscheint erkenntnistheoretisch als Chamäleon, jeweils die Farbe der Prädispositionen, auch der ideologischen Brille des Betrachters annehmend." Mythische, religiöse, philosophische, wissenschaftliche und technische Einstellungen treffen hier zusammen, welche in sich selbst noch weitere differenzierte Eigenarten vorweisen. Eine reine zeitliche Abfolge zum Wandel der Einstellungen des Menschen zur Natur, und damit auch eine wandelnde Einstellung zum Thema Natur in der Lyrik, kann nicht exakt festgestellt werden, da es zu jeder Zeit mitunter zu viele Auffassungen, Überlagerungen und Mischbildungen gegeben hat. Dennoch stelle ich die These auf, dass sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte zumindest die Tendenz ausmachen lässt, dass sich das lyrische Verständnis von Natur gewandelt hat, die Naturgedichte somit heutzutage eine andere gesellschaftliche Bedeutung als früher erfüllen. Zunächst einmal werde ich, beginnend beim Mittelalter, die historische Beziehung des Menschen zur Natur darlegen. Dies wird über den Zugang literarischer Texte und verschiedenen Autoren erreicht. Es soll gezeigt werden, dass der Mensch sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte von der ursprünglich christlich geprägten Schöpfernatur emanzipiert hat und einen neuen Umgang zur Natur pflegt, diese zum Teil auch für weitere Zwecke lyrisch instrumentalisiert. Danach folgt die Analyse des Naturgedichtes "Der Garten des Theophrast" von Peter Huchel, einem deutschen Lyriker und Redakteur. Dieses Gedicht wird besonders daraufhin untersucht, inwiefern Huchel das Naturmotiv instrumentalisiert, um neue Bedeutungsebenen zu erschließen. Auch wird versucht, über die Biografie Huchels einen Zugang zum Gedich
