About the Book

Ribiel, a young swordsman must choose between the power of his steel blade and a mysterious power of the mind called Reaching, as he faces the evil wizard, Mordon the Magician. His choice will determine the fate of High Earth, a country of peaceful farmers and villagers who are protected by the power of the Wall of Forgetfulness and by their leader, Guinle the Great, an ancient woman who carries a secret within her that even she knows little about. Ribiel learns that the mysteries of Reaching are less challenging than the mysteries of the lovely Peris, a wizard of disguises. When an army of diminutive warriors called tolks crosses into High Earth, Ribiel turns to Guinle and her companion, Yohtann, the Wizard of Timespell, as they battle the tolks and Mordon the Magician.
About the Author: Jay R. Worsham spent many years in front of television cameras, under the name Jay Richard, as an East-coast weatherman and fast-talking star of a series of regional bedding commercials so zany that people either loved them or hated them. Rumor has it that he had to talk so fast, he got blisters on his tongue. He next became a reporter, humor columnist and theater critic for newspapers in South Florida. His readers developed a similar love/hate relationship with his columns and reviews. Buoyed up by his popularity (or infamy, if you prefer) he tackled his first novel, a fantasy titled "The Knotted Sword," in which a young swordsman, Ribiel, must learn to control the mysterious force called Reaching in order to save High Earth from the evil wizard, Mordan. His next effort was the humorous thriller, "Florida Freeze: A Rick Fortune Adventure," which introduced government field agent Rick Fortune. who must test a secret government weapon, a '66 Ford Mustang that flies, sort of. Instead of flying it, he spends most of his time trying to retrieve it after it is stolen by another field agent, the lovely Monique Mechante. Jay R. Worsham's next book project was the second in the Rick Fortune series, titled "Florida Green." This time, Rick Fortune must discover the source of the millions of dollars being spent by a radical environmental group that tears down condos to free up South Florida beaches. Rick also gets to test another secret government project, a device called the Time Shifter that can send him back in time, but for only five minutes. For his fourth book, Mr. Worsham created Jeptha Frye, footloose and wealthy, who can't resist playing amateur detective. In "Blood Red Ruby: A Jeptha Frye Novel," our protagonist, who prefers to be called Jep, is content to play his sax in the weekend band, The Fourtune Hunters, until he meets Lena Lansing. Lena has just killed her veterinarian after an argument over her cat, and she turns to Jep for help. But Lena has ties to organized crime, and before long, Jep must dodge bullets from three different mobs if he wants to stay alive. A twenty-year resident of South Florida, Jay R. Worsham now lives in Connecticut, where he gripes about the cold winters.
