About the Book

-Gerald Martin-

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Writing about the details of military mobilization becomes a memory that illuminates dark areas of the Sandinista revolution.

A young poet receives the order to document a dangerous military mission that consists of the violent, forced evacuation of the indigenous Miskito people from their ancestral lands on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua to a zone named, ironically, Tasba Pri, which in the Miskita language means "Free Land."

The destruction of villages, the violation of their ancestral codes, and ignorance of their culture create a fissure that separates and divides the group between those who defend an imposed unity to face the counterrevolutionary aggression financed by the United States, and those who consider that the same revolution, with its erratic course of action, is planting the seed of their own annihilation.

The critics have said:

"Flight of Crows presents the intimate drama of becoming the Other in order to survive." -Gerald Martin
