Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Didaktik für das Fach Deutsch - Literatur, Werke, Note: 2,3, Universität Kassel, Veranstaltung: Historische Imagination und Geschichtsdidaktik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Kinder- und Jugendliteratur zur Epoche des Nationalsozialismus hat ein immenses Ausmaß angenommen und wird in der Schule oft zur Gestaltung einer Unterrichtseinheit genutzt. Vor allem wird dort auf den Jugendroman Damals war es Friedrich von Hans Peter Richter zurückgegriffen, der schon als Klassiker für den Geschichtsunterricht angesehen werden kann. Doch wird ein genauerer Blick auf diesen Jugendroman geworfen, so wird schnell ersichtlich, dass auch dieser Mängel vorzuweisen hat. Diese Defizite beziehen sich nicht nur auf kleinere Aspekte, wie beispielsweise eine tadelnswerte Identifikationsmöglichkeit für beide Geschlechter, sondern interessanterweise auf die Darstellung der Juden, die einen zentralen Aspekt für die Thematisierung des Nationalsozialismus darstellt. Der Auslöser dieser Arbeit war vor allem die Kritik von Wermke, der u.a. den Umgang mit antisemitischen Stereotypen in dem Roman thematisiert. Dies wurde allerdings nur kurz angeschnitten und auf eine Beschreibung von Stereotypen oder einer Illustration der Judendarstellung im Drittem Reich wurde gänzlich verzichtet. Diese Gesichtspunkte sollen in dieser Arbeit weiter ausgebaut werden. So sollte vorab die Frage geklärt werden, was überhaupt ein Vorurteil und Stereotyp ist und welche Gefahren diese mit sich bringen. Daraufhin sollte die Frage thematisiert werden, ob die Darstellungen der Juden bzw. des Stereotyps Jude in der NS-Propaganda Parallelen mit der in Damals war Friedrich vorweisen. Ebenfalls sollte der Frage nachgegangen werden, wie sich diese Mängel des Romans im Schulunterricht beheben lassen können.
