Vorrede: Freiheit ist die Bedingung der Möglichkeit von Befreiung. Befreiung ist die Wirklichwerdung von Freiheit. Indem der Mensch sich befreit, setzt er sich in Freiheit. Das Sichbefreien ist ein Akt der Selbstbildung. Indem der Mensch sich selbst bildet, findet er sein Selbst und befreit sich zu ihm. Sich zum freien Selbst zu bilden, ist die geistige Aufgabe des Menschen, zweckrationales Handeln gewährleistet ihre materielle Grundlage. Wo das Verhältnis sich verkehrt, entsteht Repression. Gegenwärtig eskaliert diese Verkehrung in Form der dem heutigen Leistungsprinzip innewohnenden Eigenrepression. Die alle Lebensbereiche durchdringende Zweckrationalisierung erlaubt kein Geistiges, das ihr nicht zu Diensten ist. Sie instrumentalisiert jegliche Bildungsanstrengung als ihr Mittel und untergräbt damit deren freiheitlichen Ursprung. Zweckrationalität pervertiert zum eigenen Zweck. Für die Betroffenen stellt die dem Leistungsprinzip immanente Eigenrepression eine unerträgliche Last dar. Um ihr zu entgehen, transformieren sie Eigenrepression in Fremdrepression. Deren Verursacher sind von den nationalistischen Wellenreitern schnell ausgemacht. Es sind eben die Anderen, die Fremden, ihnen wird die eigene Repression aufgebürdet und damit als Fremdrepression kuvriert. Wie ist diesem verhängnisvollen Repressionszusammenhang zu entkommen? Die Freiheit bedarf ihrer Verteidiger! Der Repressionszusammenhang muss dekuvriert werden. Jeder Einzelne, gleich welcher soziokulturellen Schicht er angehört, muss dazu aufgefordert und darin unterstützt werden, seinen Bildungsprozess anzunehmen und auf sich zu nehmen. Denn nur wer sich selbst bildet, begreift die Verunsicherung durch den Anderen als dialektischen Bestandteil seines Bildungsprozesses. Die Herrschaft der Zweckrationalität muss fallen! Der Autor ist Mitglied der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Philosophische Praxis (IGPP) und hält regelmäßig Vorträge am Deutsch-Amerikanischen Institut in Heidelberg.
