About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Manuela Beltrán, a woman haunted by a miserable childhood who tries to escape it through poetry and books; Tertuliano, an Argentinean preacher who claims to be the Pope's son and who is prepared to go to extreme measures to create a harmonious society; Ferdinand Palacios, a Colombian priest with a dark paramilitary past; Rimbaud, the precocious, brilliant poet whose life was no more than a constant investigation; and Juana and the consul, who follow each other and need each other, united by a still-undefined emotion, star in this rich, polyphonic novel, a portrait of a hostile world in upheaval, in which the only possible respite seems to be searching, traveling, coming and going, incessant exploration.
"Gamboa's talent for cultivating intrigue and the extravagant energy of his stories make reading his work compulsive." -Times Literary Supplement "Gamboa's writing is reminiscent of Roberto Bolaño in its masterful control of intrigue, the complexity of its literary references, and its stark vision of violence, sex, and drugs." -Publishers Weekly
