About the Book

*****

Enrique Ros (Enrique Emilio Ros y Pérez) was born in Cuba in 1924 and died in Miami on April 10, 2013. A successful businessman and prominent figure in the fight for freedom and against Castroism, he dedicated the last years of his life to write about Cuba. An accredited historical researcher in the National Archives of the United States and in the libraries of important universities, he has dedicated himself to the most meticulous compilation of documents, interviews and materials that allowed him to publish books highly praised for the seriousness of research that reflects his content. Ros has published 18 valuable books on the Cuban revolutionary process, biographies of those who forged Cuban independence and other Cuban historical topics, which have become obligatory reference works in the present and future.

In this work the author shows how a tireless fighter, Major General Vicente Garcia, led his men and fought not only in Las Tunas, but also in Jiguani, Bayamo and various other eastern locations, as well as Camaguey. Ros details, with never before published material, the events that led to the Sedition of Lagunas de Varona and Santa Rita. This exceptional account shows how Vicente Garcia was among the first who rose up in the Ten Years War and how, together with Colonel Bonachea Leocadio was the last of the Cuban fighters to disarm.
