About the Book

Book Three brings closure to the trilogy of the series of Viet Nam and Other Interruptions and introduces the presence of God into the struggle which at first seems to be a given to all conditions, but is so often difficult to ascertain when one in the midst of dark times. There is nothing like matters of war and trauma to obscure His Presence when we are most in need of Him. Yet this trilogy is not a discourse about religious ideology; it is about finding help for those who are victims of traumas-war, in particular, and other insults as well. This author found peace through reconnecting with his faith in Jesus, the Christ and help through a variety of resources including the Veterans Administration which continues to be a medical and psychological ally, as well as, a social network of other veterans pulling together. The writing of a variety of pieces in the three books provided a vehicle of expression to outlet many discouraging and damaging and dangerous moments that God saw fit to see him through, but also to provide guidelines and encouragement to others in similar black pits, lost moments, hurtful occasions, and trials. Read with caution and expectation. Read with hope and wonderment. Most of all, read with promise! Shalom to all!
About the Author: Thomas William Montgomery, the author's nom de plume, was born soon after the end of the second World War into a life of poverty, alcoholism, abuse, and unsettlingly hardships. He was graced, however, with a protective mother for a few short years who endowed him with resiliency and a keen interest in discovery through the written word, as well as, a vibrant imagination. He is a survivor of not only an abusive past, but of marginal bouts with death in the theatre of war called Viet Nam. He served his country as a combat paramedic. He has had several extended and varied careers including: civilian paramedic, professional swim instructor, college professor in the behavioral sciences, School Psychologist working the full gamut of clients from toddlers to the elderly, started a crisis hotline, teacher, worked as a hospital chaplain, achieved Emeritus status as a minister, been a keynote speaker at conventions, and invented a personality measurement device. He is a Private Pilot. He once enjoyed skydiving and competitive sail-boating, as well as, coaching/officiating competitive level soccer. Now he writes, travels, attends PTSD groups, works with other struggling soldiers, enjoys the interruptions of grandchildren, teaches a small class, and fends off failing health. He has even attended some college classes. He found it necessary to retire early due to the deleterious effects of Agent Orange.
