Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Führung und Personal - Personalführung, Note: 1,0, Europäische Fernhochschule Hamburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Hofstede genießt ein hohes Ansehen in der interkulturellen Forschungswelt. Dennoch wurden auch Kritikpunkte geäußert, die in dieser Arbeit beachtet werden. Der Aufbau der vorliegenden Arbeit ist wie folgt gestaltet. Das erste Kapitel führt in die Notwendigkeit der Beachtung der Unternehmenskultur im interkulturellen Management und damit in der internationalen Personalführung ein. Im zweiten Kapitel werden die Kulturdimensionen nach Hofstede im Detail beschrieben und um die Kritikpunkte ergänzt. Das dritte Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit einem praktischen Beispiel einer weiblichen Führungskraft eines Unternehmens in den USA zur Veranschaulichung der Anwendung des Modells in Unternehmen. Das vierte Kapitel bietet Schlussfolgerungen und Fazit zu Hofstedes Modell und dessen Nutzungsmöglichkeit in der internationalen Personalführung. Die interkulturelle Personalführung hat in Zeiten der zunehmenden Internationalisierung in einem dynamischen, internationalen Wettbewerb stark an Bedeutung gewonnen. Die wachsende Bedeutung des Kontingenzfaktors "nationale Kultur" ist zentral durch die Arbeiten von Geert Hofstede begründet. Im Rahmen seiner Tätigkeit bei IBM Europe führte er in den Jahren 1967 bis 1973 eine großangelegte Studie mit 116.000 Mitarbeitern des Unternehmens IBM in 72 Ländern durch. Er identifizierte daraus die vier Kulturdimensionen: Machtdistanz, Individualismus, Maskulinität, Unsicherheitsvermeidung. Später kam mit der Langfristorientierung noch eine fünfte Dimension dazu. Die Studie hat entscheidenden Einfluss auf die weitere Forschung und den praktischen Einsatz in der Management-Praxis multinationaler Unternehmen genommen.
