Der Zeithistoriker Günter Bartsch (1927-2006) stellt in diesem Buch Silvio Gesells besten Freund und engen Mitarbeiter Georg Blumenthal (1872-1929) vor, sowie drei weitere herausragende Persönlichkeiten aus Blumenthals Familie. Bartsch arbeitete und fühlte sich intensiv in das Leben der vier Persönlichkeiten ein. In diesem Buch zeichnet er ein authentisches Bild dieser Menschen in ihrer Zeit mit all ihren Höhen und Tiefen. Ihnen gemeinsam ist ein freier Geist, der sich auch nicht durch die damaligen extremistischen Ideologien vereinnahmen ließ. Georg Blumenthal war ein treuer Freund Gesells, eine wertvolle Stütze in der Verbreitung dessen Ideen, welche ihn von der ersten Begegnung an überzeugten. Blumenthals eigene Vorträge zu der Thematik und die Schriften, die er verfasste, wandten sich an ein breites Publikum und klärten es über die Zusammenhänge zwischen Geldwesen und sozialer Unterdrückung auf. Hanna Blumenthal (1898-1957), älteste Tochter Georg Blumenthals, floh gegen Kriegsende aus Berlin und fand Zuflucht im Schloss Langenburg, wo sie sich der Graphologie und Kunst widmete und mit der Fürstin befreundet war. Von der Gesell'schen Lehre durch viele Gespräche völlig überzeugt, engagierte sie sich - nicht unkritisch - in der jungen Freiwirtschaftsbewegung, hielt selbst Vorträge und verfasste Schriften. Maria Magdalena Rapp-Blumenthal (1899-1992), zweitälteste Tochter Georg Blumenthals, erlebte bereits als Kind und als junge Frau viel über die Arbeit Gesells und Blumenthals mit, identifizierte sich damit und ehelichte im Jahr 1935 den sehr engagierten Freiwirtschaftler Arthur Rapp, den sie fortan bei dessen Arbeit für die Verbreitung der Ideen Gesells unterstützte.
