Mit einer systemischen "Brille" sollen in dieser Arbeit solche Glaubenssätze unter die Lupe genommen werden und die Frage danach gestellt werden, wie und ob ich Glaubenssätze wie diese verändern kann. Die Arbeit verfolgt die These, dass das Systemverständnis von "Schulversagern" veränderbar ist, und begründet die Relevanz dieser Arbeit als Handlungsaufforderung an Lehrkräfte, systemisch zu intervenieren und an die eigene (dennoch begrenzte) Selbstwirksamkeit zu glauben. Der Begriff des "Schulversagers" ist kritisch zu betrachten. Aus einem systemischen Kontext heraus geht der Autor von der These aus, dass es beim "Schulversager" um ein Versagen der Schule geht. Daraus ergibt sich auch für diese Arbeit eine Notwendigkeit sowohl neurologische als auch psychologische Prozesse in Betracht zu nehmen. Wenn man davon ausgeht, dass das Ziel eine Veränderung des Systems des "Schulversagers" ist, dann stellt sich die Frage danach, welchen Bedingungen eine solche Veränderung unterliegt. Dazu bedarf es einer kurzen Erklärung von Grundbegriffen der Synergetik: den Kontrollparametern, den Ordnungsparametern und dem Phasenübergang. Aus diesen Erkenntnissen über Systeme und systemisches Handeln ergibt sich die Struktur der Arbeit. Zunächst wird Motivation auf neurobiologischer und psychologischer Ebene betrachtet, da Motivation die Kernvoraussetzung eines qualitativen Phasenübergangs ist. Aus den Erkenntnissen des ersten Teils sollen Handlungsempfehlungen abgeleitet werden. Die Lehrkräfte werden als Kontrollparameter betrachtet, die einen Unterschied machen können, in der Aktivierung eines Phasenübergangs.
