Als Stakeholder eines Unternehmens werden die unterschiedlichen Anspruchsgruppen bezeichnet, wie z.B. Aktionäre, Lieferanten, Kunden, Mitarbeiter, der Staat oder Umweltschutzorganisationen. Dabei wird es in einem netzwerkorientierten Unternehmensumfeld immer wichtiger, langfristige Beziehungen einzugehen und diese erfolgreich zu managen. Darauf zielt das Stakeholder-Management ab, welches den Aufbau bzw. die Pflege der Beziehungen zu unterschiedlichen Anspruchsgruppen bezeichnet und dessen Ziel es ist, eine Balance zwischen Unternehmensinteressen und den Interessen der Stakeholder zu finden. In Bezug auf das Stakeholder-Management wird Vertrauen als eine wichtige Grundlage von Stakeholderbeziehungen hervorgehoben. Daran anknüpfend gilt es für Unternehmen, vertrauensvolle Beziehungen zu unterschiedlichen Anspruchsgruppen aufzubauen und zu pflegen, um letztlich qualitative und langfristige Stakeholderbeziehungen zu führen und erfolgreich auf dem Markt zu bestehen. Aufbauend auf diesen Erkenntnissen werden in dieser Arbeit Prinzipien untersucht, durch die das Stakeholder-Management besonders effektiv gestaltet werden kann. Einen zentralen Aspekt nimmt dabei die Frage ein, in welchem Maß Vertrauen zwischen einem Unternehmen und dessen Stakeholdern eine Rolle spielt und welchen ökonomischen Erfolg vertrauensvolle Beziehungen nach sich ziehen.
