About the Book

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 3,0, Universität Potsdam, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Der größte Dramatiker des 20. Jahrhunderts." So hat Marcel Reich-Ranicki Bertolt Brecht bezeichnet. Jedoch war er auch einer der führenden Lyriker dieser Zeit. Bertolt Brecht wurde am 10. Februar 1898 in eine wohlhabende, bürgerliche Familie hineingeboren. Während seiner Schulzeit bzw. während er studierte, herrschte der 1. Weltkrieg. Er stand dem Krieg kritisch und ablehnend gegen über, was sich deutlich in seinen ersten Werken widerspiegelt. Bevor er Mitte der 20er Jahre den Kommunismus für sich entdeckte, besaß er eine antikommunistische Denkweise. "Was geht es dich an, wenn die Menschen hungern. Man muss hinaufkommen, sich durchsetzten, ein Theater haben, auf dem man seine eigene Stücke aufführen kann." So ein Zitat vom jungen Brecht. Erst nach eingehenden Studien des Marxismus wurde er überzeugter Kommunist ohne jemals in eine Partei einzutreten. Fortan waren seine Werke von marxistischen Gedanken geprägt. Deswegen musste er 1933 ins Exil gehen. Zuerst ging er nach Skandinavien, später in die USA, wo er wegen seiner kommunistischen Entstellung, die er in den USA nur vorsichtig ausdrückte, Schwierigkeiten bekam. Erst Ende 1948 kehrte Brecht nach Deutschland zurück, wo er am 14. August 1956 starb. Seine Werke sind unvergessen geblieben. Mit ihnen wollte Brecht die Menschen wachrütteln und die gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse aufzeigen und ändern. Doch waren alle seine Werke von den gleichen politischen Gedanken geprägt? Hat sich sein Schreibstil nicht mit der Zeit verändert? Hat sich Brecht literarisch weiterentwickelt? Wenn ja, in wie fern? Und wie kann man das bewerten? Um diese Fragen zu beantworten vergleiche ich zwei seiner Gedichte, zwischen deren Entstehung mindestens 20 Jahre liegen. Leider hat Brecht bei nur wenigen Werken ein genaues Datum angegeben. Bekannt ist oft nur der geschätzte Entstehungszeitraum.
