Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2017 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Komparatistik, Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Note: 1,7, Technische Universität Dortmund, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit werden die beiden berühmten Werke "Die Leiden des jungen Werther" von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe und "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W." von Ulrich Plenzdorf verglichen. Zunächst soll ein kurzer Überblick über die Textgattung beider Werke gegeben werden, denn so lassen sich die Texte in ihrer Gesamtheit besser einordnen. Darauffolgend wird Goethes Werk "Die Leiden des jungen Werther" thematisiert. Zunächst erfolgt ein Einblick in den zeitgeschichtlichen Hintergrund. Auf die Inhaltsangabe des Romans folgt eine ausführliche Charakterisierung des Hauptprotagonisten Werther. Anschließend wird der zweite zu untersuchenden Roman analysiert: Plenzdorfs "neue Leiden des jungen W.". Auch hier erfolgt zunächst ein kurzer Einblick in die Zeit der Entstehung des Romans. Auf die anschließende Inhaltsangabe folgt auch hier die Charakterisierung der Hauptfigur Edgar Wibeau. Die in dieser Analyse herausgefundenen Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede beider Texte werden im vorletzten Punkt der Hausarbeit als abschließender Vergleich zusammengefasst. Als Goethe 1774 seinen Literaturklassiker veröffentliche, löste er eine regelrechte Hysterie aus. Sein Briefroman wurde zu einem Bestseller, der genauso viele Anhänger wie Kritiker besaß und sogar teilweise verboten wurde, da sich zu viele Menschen, inspiriert von Werthers Suizid, das Leben nahmen. Goethes Werk beeinflusste sowohl die Form als auch den Inhalt vieler folgender Romane, viele Nachahmer wollten etwas von Goethes Ruhm abhaben. Zu diesen Nachahmern gehörte auch Ulrich Plenzdorf, der 1972 "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W." publizierte. Hieraus ergibt sich die Frage, wie sehr sich Plenzdorf an Goethes Vorlage orientiert hat und ob seine Hauptfigur Edgar Wibeau wirklich ein neuer Werther mit neuen Leiden in einer neuen Zeit ist, wie es
