Ricardo Rodríguez Pastor, fue un personaje extraordinario, con una inteligencia, un conocimiento y una capacidad de emprendimiento asombrosa. El fundó el Banco Pastor, fue su primer presidente y lo colocó en un lugar destacadísimo del panorama financiero español del primer tercio del siglo XX, dejándolo en la octava posición del ranking nacional.

Sin embargo, en la historia "oficial" del Banco Pastor, se minusvalora el papel de Ricardo Rodríguez Pastor, a favor del interés de elevar el de Pedro Barrié de la Maza, sin ninguna duda otro personaje extraordinario, y deliberadamente se miente con el objeto de ocultar la verdadera historia del Banco Pastor.

No me cabe ninguna duda que la mentira, los que la indujeron, la consideran muy poco importante, una "mentira piadosa", para alcanzar un fin importante.

En mi juventud, con mi amigo y primo Miguel Tiessen Pastor, bisnieto de Ricardo Rodríguez Pastor, fuimos testigos directos de como la historia se fue cambiando, tergiversando hechos, añadiendo la mentira y ocultando la verdad, supuestamente, buscando un bien general mejor.

Así vivimos en directo, en tiempo real, el borrado de los hechos y el difuminado de la aportación de Ricardo Rodríguez Pastor, tiñendo la autoría de todo lo alcanzado y logrado por él, traspasando su mérito a Pedro Barrié de la Maza. En estas conversaciones, compartimos nuestra tradición oral familiar, yo también son parte de la familia.

Esta tradición oral, por uno y otro lado, convenían en una verdad, que la historia oficial niega y, ante la mentira, nos propusimos escribir un día la verdadera historia para poner las cosas de nuevo en su verdadero sitio. Hoy cumplo esa promesa y escribo este libro para contar la verdadera historia del Banco Pastor .

Desde este primer momento quiero dejar meridianamente claro, que en ningún caso escribo este libro para poner algún "pero" a Pedro Barrié de la Maza, primo de mi abuelo, al que le profeso mi mayor admiración y agradecimiento.

Siempre se ha dicho que la historia la escriben los vencedores, es totalmente cierto. En este caso, no hay vencedores ni vencidos, pero la historia también la escriben los poderosos, los que aportan el dinero y este es el caso.
Una vez que la mentira fue incorporada a la "historia oficial" del Banco Pastor, fue exportada a las universidades, autores, periodistas, que todos ellos acuden a la historia oficial, la que está escrita en El Banco Pastor, en la Fundación Barrié y, con su mejor intención, dándola por buena, la trasmiten.

Pero creo que es necesario descubrir la mentira para que prevalezca la verdad, citando a Voltaire:
"Les debemos respeto a los vivos. A los muertos, solo la verdad"

Añadiendo otra del evangelista S. Lucas:
"Pues nada hay oculto que no quede manifiesto, y nada secreto que no venga a ser conocido y descubierto"

Hoy con esta publicación, quiero solo recuperar la verdad, sin ofender a nadie, ni buscar confrontación alguna. Desde el cariño y con la obligación familiar de contar la historia verdadera.
