Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Ältere Deutsche Literatur, Mediävistik, Note: 1,0, FernUniversität Hagen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit folgender Forschungsfrage: Wie wurden Druckwerke am Übergang vom Spätmittelalter zur Frühen Neuzeit verbreitet und wahrgenommen und wie und wodurch wirkten sie auf die Gesellschaft? Die Analyse soll anhand des Hexenhammers vorgenommen werden. Insbesondere aus westlicher Perspektive wird Johannes Gensfleisch, genannt Johannes Gutenberg, mit seinem "Werk der Bücher" als Wegbereiter der Frühen Neuzeit gesehen. Gutenbergs neuartiges Druckverfahren mit austauschbaren Schriftzeichen setzte in der Mitte des 15. Jh. eine Medienrevolution in Gang. Diese Erfindung ist als Antwort auf einen akut vorherrschenden Bedarf zu sehen, der sich in den Jahrhunderten zuvor herauskristallisiert hatte. Es war im Mittelalter immer wichtiger geworden, sich auf schriftlichem Wege auszutauschen und Vorgänge aller Art schriftlich festzuhalten. Aus diesem Grund wurde mehrerenorts, nebst der Suche nach einem erschwinglicheren Material als dem Pergament, nach neuen Optionen gesucht, Geschriebenes zu reproduzieren. Gutenberg gelang mit seiner Technik der Durchbruch. Texte ließen sich daraufhin beträchtlich schneller kopieren, und, zusammen mit Papier als billigerem Bedruckstoff, konnten Bücher günstiger als bisher angeboten werden. Zwar wurden diese schon zuvor in größerem Stil angefertigt, aber die Einführung des Gutenbergschen Buchdruckverfahrens stellte eine bedeutende Innovation dar, veränderte sich doch die Schrift- und Buchherstellung in der darauffolgenden Zeit maßgeblich und zog weitreichende Entwicklungen in allen Bereichen nach sich. Gutenbergs Name steht daher noch heute für den Buchdruck, Buchkultur und damit auch für Wissensverbreitung und -vermittlung.
