Es kann seidig, weich, fest, extra fest oder superfest sein. Über diese großen Kategorien hinaus gibt es viele Tofu-Sorten. Es hat einen subtilen Geschmack und kann daher in herzhaften und süßen Gerichten verwendet werden. Je nach Gericht und Geschmack wird es oft gewürzt oder mariniert und nimmt aufgrund seiner schwammigen Konsistenz die Aromen gut auf.

Wenn Sie noch nie damit gearbeitet haben, kann das Kochen von Tofu eine Herausforderung sein. Aber wenn man erst einmal ein wenig darüber gelernt hat, könnte es nicht einfacher sein, Tofu gut zuzubereiten! Einfache Tipps zum Kochen von Tofu:


 Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie die richtige Textur auswählen. In Lebensmittelgeschäften reicht es von seidig bis fest und extrafest. Weicher, seidener Tofu würde ich zum Mischen in Desserts oder zum Schneiden in Miso-Suppe bevorzugen, aber wenn Sie ihn als Hauptgericht servieren oder auf Schüsseln garnieren, benötigen Sie extrafesten Tofu. Er hat eine herzhaftere, dichtere Textur und einen geringeren Wassergehalt als andere Tofusorten. Hinweis: Am liebsten kaufe ich Bio-Tofu ohne gentechnisch veränderte Sojabohnen.

 Drück es. Tofu enthält viel Wasser und Sie möchten das meiste davon herausdrücken, insbesondere wenn Sie es backen, grillen oder braten. Tofu-Pressen sind im Handel erhältlich, der Besitz einer solchen ist jedoch nicht notwendig. Sie können einen Stapel Bücher verwenden oder einfach das tun, was ich mache, und ihn mit den Händen leicht in ein Küchentuch oder Papiertücher drücken. (Achten Sie nur darauf, nicht zu stark zu drücken, sonst zerbröckelt es!)

 Würzen. Es. Hoch. Es gibt einen Grund dafür, dass Tofu als langweilig gilt, und das liegt daran, dass es so ist! Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie es gut würzen. Sie können ihn marinieren oder nach einem Rezept für knusprig gebackenen Tofu zubereiten.
