Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Ein Mitarbeiter einer sozialen Einrichtung ist wegen des breiten Aufgabenspektrums häufig nicht in der Lage, alle Anforderungen, die an ihn gestellt werden, alleine zu bewältigen. Er ist darauf angewiesen, mit seinen Kollegen zusammen zu arbeiten. Hier setzt die Idee der Teamarbeit an. Ein Team sollte sich dadurch auszeichnen, dass unterschiedliche Kompetenzen aller Teammitglieder so aufeinander abgestimmt sind, dass es zu synergetischen Effekten kommt. Dies wiederum bedarf der Absprache, mithin der Kommunikation untereinander. Gerade in der Sozialen Arbeit ist Kommunikation eines der Hauptthemen überhaupt, stellt sie doch unserer Meinung nach das wichtigste Handwerkszeug eines Sozialarbeiters- oder Pädagogen dar. Über das Medium Sprache sollte dieser dazu in der Lage sein, Zugang zu seinen Klienten zu finden. Er muss sich mit Ämtern, Behörden, Kostenträgern und anderen Kooperationspartner austauschen. Dem professionellen Helfer werden oft Problemlagen geschildert, die mitunter vielschichtiger sein können als es auf den ersten Blick zu sein scheint. In Beratungsgesprächen ist Kommunikationskompetenz besonders wichtig. Auch einzelne Methoden der Sozialen Arbeit basieren in erster Linie auf Kommunikationsfertigkeiten. Man stelle sich vor, dass ein Casemanager, der die zentrale Stellung innerhalb eines Hilfeprozesses einnimmt, das kleine einmaleins der Kommunikation nicht beherrscht. Wie sollte er dann dazu in der Lage sein, die unterschiedlichen Fäden des Hilfenetzwerkes aufeinander abzustimmen bzw. sinnvoll miteinander zu verknüpfen? Wie sollte ein Sozialarbeiter- oder Pädagoge dazu in der Lage sein, den Empowermentansatz umzusetzen, wenn er nicht Personen mit gleichen oder ähnlichen Problemlagen zusammenbringen kann? Wie sollte er es schaffen, Individuen und deren jeweilige Potentiale zu fördern, wenn er nicht motivierend einwirkt, was sehr häufig kommunikativ geschieht?
